I just spent an hour watching the Walking Dead. I had to do this with Tank at my side in his water. I either rested my hand on the crown of his shell or in the water. I did most of this in a darkened room and didn't watch him all the time. A few times I felt Tank resting his head on my arm or felt him moving his head around my hand. He is used to contact with me and trusts me and I him. During commercials I gave him my full attention. He stretched out his neck and was within an inch of my face. He just sat and listened to me. He is such an amazing turtle. He breaks all the stereotypes(some well deserved) about snapping turtles. In his eyes I see a turtle that is interested in his world and not some automated response. I see him thinking about things and wondering about them. Enough of my ramblings.
Tank's healing but at a slow rate. This type of injury is going to be a long time healing. I've had to make a change to his enclosure. He learned that he can get out of his water at a place I call the "Meeting Spot" In doing so he irritates the sores on his front feet. I've had to block off the meeting spot when I'm not working with him. He seems to be adjusting to that change very well.
